I love my cats. I try to take good care of them; I'm sure most of you are the same. I learned, a long time ago, that cats are finicky eaters. I first found out about this watching a brief informational program on television about cat food. A few years back, our darling Fluffy was very ill; she wouldn't eat much, and she was losing weight. We were very worried about her. The help broke several dishes - including Fluffy's own dish! We were mortified, but every cloud has a silver lining. She'd also broken one of our good dinner teacups, so we had a spare saucer; we pressed it into service as a cat dish. We were amazed. Fluffy began putting on weight again. She ate heartily. She *loved* that dish! So, now I know that cats really *do* know whether or not you're feeding them from good dishes. I think it's important to use only the best dishes to feed your cats. A few months ago, while I was talking about this with a friend of mine (who, frankly, has some terribly strange ideas; she works, too!), she said "Oh, Glinda, don't be silly. Wild cats don't eat off of dishes at all!" Well, I was shocked. It had never occurred to me that the National Fish and Wildlife Association could be so cruel! Apparently, she tells me, wild cats eat directly off of the ground. The *ground*, she says! This is disgusting; there are *bugs* on the ground, and what if the cat ate one by accident and got sick? It's horrible! I called the National Fish and Wildlife people to protest this abuse of the poor cats. I did my best to explain the problem clearly, but they said I was beyond help. Please help! Write to your local ASPCA immediately, to tell them about this travesty! The address is: 127.0.0.1 localhost With all my love, Glinda p.s.: Happy Holidays!
